Weather & Safety Information:
We all know that weather in Colorado is day to day. The average low temperature on April 19th is 30 degrees and the average high is 55 degrees. At 7,000', be prepared for anything. There may be snow on the trail, there may be rain, it may be muddy, and it may be nice. We will just have to wait and see what shows up on race day.
Greenland Open Space is a multi-use open space that can see a lot of foot, bike, and horse traffic. However, in April, this traffic is fairly light. Expect to see wildlife in the form of rabbits, prairie dogs, fox, coyote, birds, and possibly bear and mountain lion.
Though this race is not considered high altitude for residents of Colorado, if you are traveling from elevations below 2,000', be prepared for some shortness of breath. The highpoint on the course is 7,400', about 1,000' higher than Colorado Springs and 2,000' higher than Denver.
